Last night we brought our big bags to the Kawai's house and repacked for traveling. Had a nice Sushi feast and met some of our neighbors-to-be, a couple who lived in Amherst for two years! The building is super modern. Amazing features like vertical parking spaces and key-fob entry to the building like your car keys.
Last night and again this morning there was heavy rain. The mild mannered ankle-deep Kamo river became a raging river with frothing rapids overnight! News reports showed major flooding and mudslides. For us, the big problem was getting around without getting drenched. It wasn't easy, and we still have wet clothes and shoes from yesterday.
we managed to repack and finish our first stay in Kyoto, and I am writing this from Tokyo. Pictures next.
